Summer Full

New for summer 2008?
It can be a daunting task to choose a field, however, with more than 11,000 camps in the United States. And even if was an 8-week camp as a child, there are trends that have changed the face of the camping industry in recent years. If you are aware of these trends, which can be helpful in guiding you to the appropriate program for your child.
CAMPS
Shorter sessions and more supervision. Many of the camps Full season have been moved to 2 sessions shorter, many camps offer sessions from 2 weeks to allow parents to fit in a camping experience residential around its many other activities. Moreover, most of the camps and are providing short-term, introductory sessions for children small that could last from 3 days to 2 weeks. In many cases, this short-term "rural flavor" is all for the love of parents and children. Some camps have relaxed their communication policies, allowing calls to the phone or online sites to view pictures caravan. For some parents, these new approaches to making the decision to send a child to camp a little easier.
Allergies and therapies. With the increase in allergies, camps have responded in a couple of ways. Some camps have moved to a peanut-free environment to eliminate risk entirely. (Both for those children that used to go away from the field and live on peanut butter and white bread as an alternative to hot food!) There are even gluten-free camp for children with celiac disease. Many camps are heavier reliance on outside firms Camper package medications into daily doses and then send them to the field of distribution. With so many children in "Meds" these days, drug policies underpin camp has been a focus of many camps.
A camp in camp. You still want the feel of a traditional summer camp, but want your child to improve his backhand tennis horseback riding, or cause the computer school basketball in the fall. There is a movement in the summer camps to specialty camps in the traditional camps. With so many fields in the United States and the fathers in the fields of search engine research, the fields must be differentiated in ways never before. In addition, parents are looking for specialist programming to a younger age. To meet this demand, you can find specialties like culinary arts, fencing, science, foreign languages, riding, tennis or golf on a traditional country period. Circus Arts, has become the "new gym" and so popular that the camps are spending billions (perhaps millions) of dollars on building ropes courses and trapeze and tight indoor pavilions devoted to this "high flight" of activity. Circus gives children a safe environment, "extreme" sport, while stunning them new skills and teaches them an original form of creative or performing arts. When gymnastics only appeals to girls, circus arts co-ed gives the fields of a leg up in attracting children as well.
Specialty Camps. If parents are not campers themselves, can not know the long-term benefits, the traditional camp experience. In addition, many parents feel the need to adapt to the extent possible during the summer, not unlike the year center around shuttle to children after school program to another. Therefore, the fields specialty have emerged everywhere in the supply and rock music, creative writing, aviation, sports broadcasting, skateboarding or robotics. Specialized programs in culinary arts have become more and more popular. And of course there are areas of specialty for almost all sports, if your child is trying to build an interest in a particular sport or a sport trying to perfect for a fall trial.
Enrichment programs. For many years there has been pre-college programs for high school children, but more recently there has been an increase in enrichment programs for younger children. From 4 th grade, a child may take 1 to 6 weeks in an enrichment program that would live in a boarding school or a university campus in a dorm room, eat in a soup kitchen, taking special interest classes, participate in recreational activities and take part in organized tours. The kind of "academic" the Children are exposed in an enrichment program is very different from the rigor of school: how often do you get an AP kid track to take a workshop at the Lego engineering or science of superheroes? Exceptionally they allow both for the child in need of remedial courses to help with deficit learning or challenge course to complement the search for a different child of knowledge.
Special Needs. Children with ADD and ADHD often be labeled as "special needs" children. Now, each camp has children with AD and the directors do not even consider that in the housing. Today incorporate many fields allowed blind children, deaf children, children with Asperger's and cerebral palsy. They see a benefit to the other campers learn compassion and learn to accommodate a child with differences. If a parent does not want their children to stand out, however, there are also dedicated camps for children with all sorts of differences, as Prader-Willi syndrome, Williams syndrome, Down syndrome, and severe forms of autism.
Summer opportunities can help your child to develop new interests, open your mind, choose a new direction, or make lifelong friends. As a parent you need to ask what your child needs more than the summer and then you can match with the corresponding program. Perfectly adapted for summer programs can have a profound impact on their children and help them develop life-passions long. However, these programs are not cheap. So when choosing, know all the options and make a good decision for your child.

Trends for Teens
When it comes to summer camps and trends program for teenagers, parents seem to be driving. Whether it's "helicopter parents", requiring more communication with their children while away from peanuts or parents demanding field-free environments and teen travel managers must adapt to a changing society. In the past 15 years, the summer program for teenagers has become very competitive industry. Each program must be distinguished in some way and stay one step ahead of the curve. By this time, program managers have evaluated what worked best for their participants last summer and are now busy trying to be on the edge of the "court" for next summer. Teen Program managers walk the fine line of trying using the "build it and they will come" philosophy, while appealing to the desires of both parents and adolescents.
So, what are the trends that are driving the industry adolescence summer program? There is a demand for shorter programs to accommodate the schedules of busy teens. Programs must be planned around summer school, sports commitments, and family vacations. Parents want more "bang for the buck." Although abroad programs used to be delineated between language programs, community service, or adventure travel, today his son might choose a program in which he could do all three. Program managers are starting to plan their itineraries to attract more children, because girls tend to dominate the travel industry. A manager provided more trips to China, because children are interested in ancient Chinese warriors. Here are some other trends and programs unique to the summer of 2008 to help you and your child to think outside the box:
Teen Programs
Options for tweens. Children can skip all the traditional camp experience and no field experience for later. Because the teen program directors have realized that children middle-school age are seeking new and exciting programs, these "tweeners" have a world of options open to them now. Most requests for language that for the Spanish and French language programs are now Chinese, Japanese and Arabic. Spanish passion can still be your child, so what such a community service program in Costa Rica? If your child is interested in saving 7 in the world, there are programs in marine science sailing in the BVI, where they can participate in turtle conservation. Most adventure travel programs that used to be devoted exclusively to high school students, now offering the same kind of experience to 6th, 7th and 8th grade, according to your level of maturity and educational experience.
Community Service. How can we teach our children the value of "giving back" to appreciate what you have? Or, more pragmatically, how tall are completed community service school requirements? This is no easy task for a parent, but more easily achieved through a quality program of community service. Your child can help build new classrooms in India or working with orphans in Russia. Your child can work on rebuilding the Gulf Coast or teach tennis to underprivileged children in the urban areas.
Internships. Does your child have a specific interest in a career? Want to gain experience in the field? If so, this is the option for your child. In an internship program, your child can work closely with professionals in their area of interest – from Fashion Design Archeology, Medical Research for Strategic Studies. So far, this type of work placements has been organized mainly in England but are now emerging in large U.S. cities like New York, Boston and Philadelphia, directed by program managers for adolescents in good standing. After his journal " work ", the staff organizes evening activities, weekend trips and college visits for participants. They are housed in university campuses security.
Language programs. Although learning a foreign language is not a new concept, which combines with other interests clearly a new phenomenon. Moreover, your child can get into rare languages such as Arabic, Modern Greek, or right here in the U.S. Sweden Many language programs abroad include a stay of his house, where a student is matched with a family in order to strengthen the language of study and enrich the student experience through cultural exchange and service Community. Some students give up the experience of staying home to focus on other interests. Maybe your son wants to study painting, photography or cooking while learning Italian. Or maybe your child wants to study architecture in Switzerland while learning French.
Intensive exotic travel and adolescents. Programs travel are responding to the fact that parents want more "bang for the buck." Now a child can live with a family in a rural village hiking to ancient ruins, and help build a school for the children – all in one trip of 4 weeks. Teen travel programs usually focus on traditional destinations as Western Europe or Central America. Now there is a trend towards more exotic. It is not uncommon to find programs for teenagers who travel to Senegal, Bolivia or Cambodia. While these programs were often visiting busy tourist attractions, some have become mini-think tanks, the commitment to the study of problems world. One such program for the coming year will see students and turn them into global consciousness "body action" groups. Could study health care and global health care issues in Ghana, or community development in El Salvador, or biodiversity in Madagascar. While in these countries, participating together with friends and local experts before returning to the U.S. to prepare and submit action plans continues.
College Campus Study Programs. Whether purely for enrichment or college credit, academic programs are much in demand. They give high school students a taste of what it means to live on a college campus. Besides academic studies, each program offers SAT Prep, college visits, leadership programs, a number of sports programs, visits to places of interest as well as weekend excursions to nearby cities. The directors of these programs are always looking to provide unusual course offerings. Studies of the course ranging from architecture to advertising, economics to environmental science.
Programming sabbatical. U.S. students are one of the few countries where children follow a traditional path from high school to college to graduate school to profession. Our students are ultimately reflect the will of their foreign counterparts, and taking some time off between high school and college. They now even have a name for it – "The Odyssey. Its graduates can sail around the world or living with a family in a rural village in Kenya, helps teach at the secondary school in the village, offering activities extracurricular and initiating and participating in community service projects. There are summer programs for graduates and programs ranging from 3 months to a full year of study or travel. These are great for the graduates that their experience does not start until January at the university, too.
Summer programs can provide alternatives and enrichment opportunities for children of all ages. Whatever type of program that you and your child to choose who you want to be a well managed and well supervised, enriching experience. With all available options may be useful to talk to a teen travel camp consultant to help formulate the questions and guide appropriate entitlement program. Happy Camping!
